-ne The picture you see here is one that I took inside the building that will become our new tech control facility (TCF). While Operation Together Forward continues to put the clamps on, the tactic of Clear, Hold, Build that was outlined in the National Strategy for Victory in Iraq can be seen. After Iraqi and Coalition forces cleared a particular section of Baghdad, Iraqi National Policemen were manning a checkpoint near a bridge when they noticed a dump truck being driven in an odd manner. Shortly after that, the truck exploded damaging several nearby vehicles and injuring 4 civilians. There was a day when strategy was a closely guarded secret, when we wouldn’t tell anyone that didn’t need to know how we were going to win. Our military strategy is solid, now we need a civilian strategy to support it.

The location was rather picturesque - we faced off a few km from a wrecked station and several wrecked ships. The ships in question were rather beefier than those I had run into myself, and one Sansha equipped with piercing red laser (that never seemed to actually stop firing once turned onto my ship) took a liking to me. As I explored the wreck, he gave up picking up his loot and left the system, leaving most of it for me to pick up, purely to keep space tidy you understand…

Sometimes it is an event, the death of friend or a loved one, sometimes it is a chronological milestone, turning 30 or 40, sometimes it’s an event that happened to someone close to us and sometimes it’s a break up or the loss of a job that drive us on these soul seeking quests. These are lonely moment in our lives, standing on these bridges. I think it’s this flux state of mind that drives my thrill seeking personality – my bridge if you will, for it’s only during those moments when the adrenaline flows heavily and my heart races, that I’m 100% forced to be in the moment, appreciating right here, right now! May there carry us over that which needs to be crossed, deliver us to a new, and may the next bridge of love carry us all the way to the end.

The Surefire Grow Guide (the start of an ongoing guide to growing your own) Before you start growing, you need to chose a suitable strain, GENETICS AND THE PLANT It is very important to start with good genetics. Indica plants have a heavy, stony high that is tiresome, and sativas are hard to grow indoors due to high light requirements, and late flowering traits, so a hybrid can be bread that will have the energetic, cerebral high of the sativa and the early maturation tendencies of the Indica plant. The Indica plant is easily recognized by its extremely broad leaves that are very rounded on the sides. A hybrid will have qualities of both and have leaves that are a cross of these two types, thinner than an Indica, but much broader than a Sativa.

Yet this still was too much. The tune, Where is the love, came on from my international neighboring student’s room next door. One minute now elapsed in 10, and another feat came about…the song seemed to only have a chorus. Does he still like the song?I heard myself asking if he could please turn the song down a little. I am so not getting any sleep.Actually, as he nodded, and I thanked him…he just turned the music off.My whole body seemed to sigh relief.

Data from the LLRE has told us that the Moon still has a liquid core, that Newton’s G is indeed constant, and provides one more test of General Relativity. Most important for this narrative, the LLRE tells us that the Moon is slowly drifting away from the Earth. As the Moon creates tides, the tidal bulge outraces the Moon due to Earth’s 24-hour rotation. This bulge pulls the Moon forward by a tiny amount, increasing the Moon’s orbital velocity. Earth’s record tells us that the Moon’s average recession over the last 650 million years is only 2.17 cm per year. If the Moon appears to recede 1/3 faster than geology says, it is a serious anomaly. If the speed of light slows, that would increase the time for light to return from the Moon, making the Moon appear to recede faster.

Schoomaker, the Army’s chief of staff, is believed to be unprecedented and signals a widespread belief within the Army that in the absence of significant troop withdrawals from Iraq, funding assumptions must be completely reworked, say current and former Pentagon officials….Schoomaker failed to submit the budget plan by an Aug. 15 deadline. The protest followed a series of cuts in the service’s funding requests by both the White House and Congress over the last four months.According to a senior Army official involved in budget talks, Schoomaker is now seeking 38.8 billion in 2008, nearly 5 billion above budget limits originally set by Rumsfeld. The Army’s budget this year is 8.2 billion, making Schoomaker’s request a 41% increase over current levels. One of the less-reported stories from 2000 (possibly because it doesn’t fit in to the media screwed over Gore narrative that we love so much) is how how the military command deliberately portrayed the readiness of the Army as worse than it was.

Array This was the biggest group of bicycles I’d found myself in the middle of since I first started riding in May. A good 92 riders bigger than the biggest. Just 20 miles — a Wednesday night ride. All 200-plus miles became a series of 10 Wednesday night rides. But the four of us will take the hill together just like we took Fox Hill and Douglass and that no-name climb that surprised us all on our 80-mile training ride.We ride through corn fields, noting the textures, the colors, the beauty of the day. We ride along with a ridge of mountains to our right. The post-lunch hills are surprisingly tough, but the beauty of riding the Eagle’s Peak is that we know we can make it up any other hill this ride throws in front of us. We ride for 73-plus miles, 6-plus hours on the saddle.

It seems impossible that almost 5 years have passed since the terrorist attack of 9/11/01. The way I view life and people has been changed forever.Do you remember what you were doing that day when it happened? Kathy Kish from First National Bank, Melissa Ronquist, who at the time was the Newberry Chamber Executive Director, and I was seated at our kitchen table, doing an audit of the Chamber books. Next thing I remember the three of us were standing in front of the TV with our mouths hanging open and tears in our eyes. I don’t know how it happened that I had the TV on when it was first reported. From time to time we talk about that day and how it affected us and also how it changed us.Many of our camping guests that day decided to “get home”, even though home might have only been southern Lower Michigan. One guest in particular, an older gentleman from around the Washington D.C. area was about beside himself. His son worked at the Pentagon and he had not been able to reach him. We both were in tears while we were talking about this. It was hard to try to “calm him down”, when I felt anything but calm myself….but he had a son to worry about. He came back in the lobby about an hour later and his son had managed to contact him and he was OK but many of his co-workers were not OK or were just plain missing. Mr. Smith decided to finish out his stay here and figured it was safer here than being on the road.It seems to me that things in America have gone downhill since that time. I’ve read all kinds of books about how this could have all have been prevented by Bill Clinton having done things differently, blame being placed everyplace, fingers pointing at certain politicians. Regardless, it DID happen and now we have to live the rest of our lives with the real possibility there could be other terrorist attacks in our back yard, be they big or small. But, I think the 9/11 attack is still happening, or at least it got the “ball rolling” as far as destroying things Americans hold dear. As I stated, it seems things have gone downhill since that time; THAT is the ball that got started rolling by this attack.I tend to not get political on you; I figure every one has the right to think and feel what they want. Just as everyone has the right to support and vote for whom they want. So, this is just my humble opinion…if the attack hadn’t happened, would we be at war someplace else?? Would we be constantly looking over our shoulders??? Would we be paying over .00 a gallon for gas?? Would Americans be loosing their jobs?? I think OBL got a big portion of the effect he was hoping for…the domino effect. On a lighter note; What Democracy Means to Meby Johnny Carson The Tonight Show 11 September, 1991To me, democracy means placing trust in the little guy, giving the fruits of nationhood to those who built the nation. Democracy means anyone can grow up to be president, and anyone who doesnt grow up can be vice president.Democracy is people of all races, colors, and creeds united by a single dream: to get rich and move to the suburbs away from people of all races, colors, and creeds. Democracy is having time set aside to worship — 18 years if youre Jim Bakker.Democracy is buying a big house you cant afford with money you dont have to impress people you wish were dead. And, unlike communism, democracy does not mean having just one ineffective political party

Ask and you shall receive. Lots of useful responses to my post yesterday about why some departments don’t allow some of their students to apply for the best jobs. There seem to be a couple of themes in what people are saying, so I want to try to address those.First, I’d been assuming there’d be no downsides to sending applications to the best departments, but Robert’s pushed back on that assumption. Maybe sending out less-than-outstanding applications can hurt candidates the way giving mediocre presentations or publishing mediocre work in mediocre journals can hurt people. Maybe, but how exactly? Especially if your department’s not pushing your application very hard at that top school, it’s going to get looked at for a few minutes by one, maybe two people. Maybe they’ll read your writing sample, and maybe, to push this line a little harder, having the best people in the field see your underdeveloped work could hurt you. Again, maybe. But will it hurt so badly they wouldn’t give your work another look after you’d got in good enough shape to appear in a decent journal? Which, remember, is what you’d have to do anyway to have a real shot at getting so much as a flyback from their department? To take the opposite view, there are senior faculty in my department who say it can hurt to not apply to the best departments, even though we have no chance at getting those jobs. These profs’ thinking is, it can hurt a candidate with middle-tier schools if it somehow gets around that the student’s department didn’t think they had a shot at the top-tier. In any case, I need to think about the possible harms of applying a little more. As of yet, I’m not convinced.Another idea people have is, somehow limiting the jobs students can apply for will help them get jobs. Anon. 7:43 is dead-on right about the importance of a very hands-on placement process in getting people jobs. But after people have been mentored throughout graduate school about producing good work and worked their way into the profession with presentations and maybe a publication or two, after they’ve had their CVs, writings samples, abstracts, and teaching portfolios vetted by the relevant senior and junior faculty, after even their letters have been vetted by trusted senior faculty, and after their profs have made calls to all the friends they honestly think should give their student an interview–if they’ve done all that hands-on stuff, what’s the extra help of not letting students apply to Princeton?John T. has a different take on how limiting the schools students can apply to can actually help them get jobs. One idea seems to be that departments can better influence another department’s search process if they present a unified front with respect to a student’s candidacy. But as Anon. 2:51 points out, besides offering honest assessments of different students’ work, profs can tell their friends about the differences in students’ interests and hope one or another candidate will appeal to the search committee as a possible fit for what they’re looking for.But John T. and others also have something else in mind, something about the psychology of search committees. John talks about a department wanting to be taken seriously when they tell a top-tier department, This is the best student weve had in a decade.” Fair enough, they should want to be taken seriously. But it seems like the best way to do that would be not to say a students the best in a decade unless theyre actually the best in a decade. Problem solved. Along similar lines, Anon. 9:25 asks why anyone should expect their letter writers to say theyre qualified for a job at a top-tier school. The answer is, of course, no one reasonable should expect that. But theres no problem here unless there are profs who tailor-up dishonestly inflated letters specifically for top-tier schools. If a prof writes a letter that just gives a useful description and honest assessment of a students work, wheres the problem?I feel like I must be missing the thrust of what John and others were talking about with this business about being sensative to the psychology of the search committee. I have to admit, Im somewhat suspicious it has something to do with a willingness dishonestly to inflate assessments of a student for some audience but not for others. If its not that, Im all ears as to what it really is.link

Chief Executive Officer of Uranerz Energy (URZ:AMEX, URZ:TSX)With both Ux Consulting and TradeTech boosting their spot price indicators for uranium this week by US to US8 per pound, the freefall in the short term spot price of uranium might have finally turned a corner. In response to the price increase, RBC Dominion Securities analyst, Adam Schatzker wrote “With a spot price increase of /lb and relatively robust volumes, we believe we are seeing real renewed interest in the market. Areva’s Christensen Ranch mine is presently on stand-by.On August 31/07 Uranerz filed a NI 43-101 Technical Report on Nichols Ranch Property. The company has 43,673,187 fully diluted shares outstanding, as of September 30, 2007 and between Mr. Catchpole (President and CEO), Mr. Hartman (Senior Vice President & Chief Executive Officer of Uranerz Energy on October 18, 2007 -Q: Now that the price of Uranium has gone from 35/lb to 8/lb, what are your thoughts and outlook on it?A: We are not experts on uranium spot price forecasting, but from what we have read on the topic, we remain optimistic that given the quality of our uranium properties in Wyoming, our production costs will allow us to have a respectable positive cash flow even using the most gloomiest of projections by the experts. We remain very pleased with the results we are seeing on these two properties.Q: Since I haven’t seen or heard too much about Uranerz compared to some other Uranium juniors, is the company planning to a promotional tour, or host analyst visits to garner more attention from the brokerage community?A: You are right, and I frequently get asked the same question despite the fact that we have been frequently attending investor shows, and Dennis Higgs and Lloyd Jacobs have spend a lot of time in the past few months visiting investor types in New York, Boston, San Francisco and elsewhere.

Array The prayer breakfast offers a vivid illustration of the growing presence and increasing political influence of Latino evangelicals, who now make up some 15% of the rapidly expanding Hispanic population in the U.S., according to a recent survey by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life and the Pew Hispanic Center. That survey also shows that among eligible Latino voters, evangelicals are twice as likely as Latino Catholics to identify with the Republican Party (37% vs. Latino evangelicals also are far more likely than Latino Catholics to describe themselves as conservative (46% vs. This trend is reflected in the fact that nearly two-thirds of Latino evangelicals (63%) say English is their primary language or that they are bilingual, compared with less than half (45%) of Latino Catholics. Perhaps reflecting the zeal of recent converts, Latino evangelicals are somewhat more likely to say they attend church weekly than white evangelicals (70% compared to 61%) and to view the Bible as the literal word of God (76% compared to 62%). Latino evangelicals also take more conservative positions on many social issues compared with Latino Catholics and even compared with other evangelicals. A large majority (77%) also say that abortion should be illegal, compared with 54% and 61%, respectively, for Latino Catholics and white evangelicals. But Latino evangelicals differ from white evangelicals, and more closely resemble Latino Catholics, on other policy issues. While only a minority (33%) of non-Hispanic evangelicals say that immigrants strengthen American customs and values, a solid majority (59%) of Latino evangelicals hold that view. (The comparable figure among Latino Catholics is even higher at 67%.) Latino evangelicals, along with other Latinos, also hold generally liberal views on economic issues and are more likely to support government programs and sympathize with poor people than are white evangelicals. Recent Voting Patterns The strong Republican orientation of Latino evangelicals compared with other Latinos was clearly evident in the 2004 presidential election. (The percentage of the Hispanic Catholic vote remained unchanged at 33%.) And not only did Latino Protestants vote more heavily Republican in 2004, they also represented a higher percentage of the Latino electorate than in 2000 (32% vs.

The nation of Israel was born on 15th May 1948 and the Arab countries immediately declared war on Israel. The Arabs forces were defeated and Israel gained 50% more territory after the war.In 1956 Egypt seized the Suez Canal and the Strait of Tiran and closed it to Israel shipping and Israel took it as, declaration of war, mounted an invasion of the Sinai with the collaboration of France and Britain. In 1967 Gamel Abdul Nasser of Egypt again closed the Strait of Turin to Israel shipping and Israel retaliated and occupied the Sinai and Gaza from Egypt, the West Bank from Jordan, and Golan Height from Syria. In October 1973, also known as the Yom Kippur War, the Arab coalition forces led by Egypt attempted to retake the Sinai and Golan Heights but was severely defeated by Israeli armed forces, with the help of the United States, providing them with aerial information, on ground movements and strength of Arab coalition forces .America was the eyes in the sky using airborne surveillance planes to relay back information to Israel military commands. In June 1981, with the support and encouragement of the United States, Israel air force bombed the Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak, Iraq and crippled it. America declared its neutrality which was designed to deceive the Iranians. They operated a clandestine operation through Saudi Arabia to provide exaggerated report of Iran military weakness to Iraq so as to encourage Saddam to invade Iran.At the height of the war America furnished the Iraqis with intelligence reports on Iranian troop concentration and damage assessment of Iraqi attacks on Iran. They did not object to the extensive use of chemical weapons against Iran. They also gave billions of dollars in commodity credits and guarantees and encouraged other European nations to supply arms to Iraq.Iran has become the common enemy of Iraq and America and it used Iraq as its proxy.Diplomatic initiatives on the current crisis with Iran to stop her nuclear programme has not been successful.America has imposed sanctions and even threaten war on Iran.On 25th Feb 2007 the Telegraph of UK reported - US FUNDS TERROR GROUPS TO SOW CHAOS IN IRAN. Many Arabs consider their leaders weak, incapable, and are stooges of America. It was obvious that Americans double standard and impunity to the atrocities committed by Israel on the Palestinian people were major contributing factors to the birth of terrorism. The war on Iraq has given terrorism a quantum leap.It has gone global and is now a multi-national business with subsidiaries and affiliates throughout the Muslim world. In the past, most terror groups were confined within borders of the country or within a region.Al-Qaeda headed by Osama bin Laden was the only one with far-reaching influence and extensive networks. It was formed in 1988 to help the mujahedeens to drive out the Soviets from Afganistan. The jihadists war in Afganistan was partly sponsored and financed by the CIA and partly Arabs money mostly Saudis. Iraqis had been killed and killed mostly by Americans guns and bombs. The situations in Afghanistan was no better. The two countries are now the killing fields created by America as a war of attrition to weaken the Muslims Ummah. For the Americans to leave Iraq now there would be complete anarchy. The sectarian violence, slaughter, and massacre would be of unimaginable proportion and fragmentation of Iraq would be inevitable. The Vietnam War lasted almost fifteen years.Would Iraq be another Vietnam and killed many more innocent Iraqis before the Americans withdrew? Was the invasion of Iraq legitimate?

But the previous messages were unprotected by God, so man was able to change them but the final message (Quran) is under the protection of God, so no one can change it.The QuranAl- Quran is the final and preserved message of God for mankind, revealed upon the final Prophet Muhammad. The followings are the different ways, through which the message (Wahy / Revelation) came to the prophet are as follows:* True Dreams: whatever the Prophet dreamt in the night became true during the day.* The angel (Gabriel) used to suggest directly to the heart of the Prophet, being invisible to him.* Sometime the message came in form of the ringing sound of a big bell.* Coming down of the angel in the form of a man.* Coming down of the angel in his original shape.* The message came down directly to the prophet’s heart without any agency (angel or voice). The Collection of the QuranThe Quran is a book of revelation from God. Since the verses of the Quran were recited during prayer the companions had to memorize them in order to recite them in their daily prayers. In this way the memorization and the writing down of the Quran both started from the very first day of revelation.According to traditions, whenever a revelation was received, Prophet called one of his scriber companions and dictated the verses to them. in the books of hadith. It is also established in these books that in the last year of the Prophet’s life, when the revelations had been completed, Gabriel came to the Prophet and recited the entire Quran in the existing order twice, and similarly the Prophet also recited to Gabriel the entire Quran twice. when the Prophet died at the age of 63 years, the Quran existed in two forms: one, in the memory of the several thousand companions, since they repeated the Quran daily on different occasions, having learned it by rote in what is now its present order; Zaid ibn Thabit, the Prophet’s foremost scribe, and an authority on the Quran was entrusted with this task. The compilation was done very meticulously Zaid made an announcement that any person who has written even the smallest portion of the Quran in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad and this was witnessed by two persons must bring such written portions. That is, the scattered bits and pieces of the Quran in written form were collected by him, not so that they could be assembled and bound in one volume, but so that they could be used to verify the authenticity of the Quran as memorized by countless individuals and passed on in oral tradition. Once this exact correspondence between the oral and written forms of the Quran had been established beyond any doubt, Zaid proceeded to put the verses of the Quran down on paper in their correct order. It is an irrefutable fact that any copy of the Quran found in any part of the world at any time will be exactly the same as that handed down to the Muslims by the Prophet in his last days, arranged in the form still extant today. The Quran and ManThe Holy Quran is the message of Allah. (Quran 10:57)The Quran is for all mankind but only a believer can benefit from it.“This (Quran) is a clear insight and evidence for mankind, and a guidance and a mercy for people who have Faith with certainty.”(Quran 45:20)Quran is the preserved message of God; The message of Quran is more important than its language. The Quran is read by two aims: for being an Islamic jurist and to understand & follow guidance of God.
